"PASE CLASICO"
The name "Pase Clasico" means classical pass. This particular right-handed pass is the "Derechazo". It is a low pass using a muleta (a red serge cape) that takes place in the final phase of the bullfight right before the kill. In fact, the purpose of this phase is to prepare the bull for the kill. Historically, these passes have been functional as well as artistic. In the right-handed pass the sword is held in the right hand at an angle along with the muleta in order to spread the muleta.
During this pass, the matador stands still and moves the muleta in a smooth arc, leading the horns past his body. Normally, the passes are performed in sets of three. The passes made during this phase together with the manner in which the matador kills the bull are the most salient parts of the bullfight.
