"DOWN THE LINE" "Down The Line" is drawn from experiences of the artist's nephew. Doyle has gone "down the line" many times in rodeo competition and while working as a cowboy in the Southwest. After a cowboy ropes a calf in competition, he dismounts and runs "down the line" to the calf as quickly as possible. He ties any three legs of the calf to stop the clock. A quick dismount, or "get down" is essential when racing against a stopwatch. On the range, similar techniques are used, but speed is replaced by absolute accuracy. During roundup, calves are roped in order to be doctored and branded. Here, the cowboy's rope is really his portable corral. DIMENSIONS: 21"L x 10"W x 12"H LIMITED EDITION OF 22, BRONZE |
